Why does the British elite hate Russia so much? w/ John Helmer

In a recent press conference with U.S. President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer declared that his government is going "all in" on NATO's failed proxy war in Ukraine.

Starmer's refusal to acknowledge NATO's defeat is the latest indication that the British elite harbours an implacable hostility toward Russia, and particularly toward the government of Vladimir Putin.

To explore the basis of this hostility, Dimitri Lascaris spoke with John Helmer.

Helmer is the longest continuously serving foreign correspondent in Russia, and the only western journalist to direct his own bureau, independent of national or commercial ties. Born and educated in Australia, then at Harvard University, John has also been a professor of political science, of sociology, and of journalism, and an advisor to government heads in Australia, Greece, the United States, and Sri Lanka. He has published several books on military and political topics. His latest book is “Long Live Novichok!: The British poison which fooled the world."

Lascaris and Helmer also discussed Starmer's attitude toward Trump's vow to make Canada the 51st state of the United States. According to Helmer, the British government has betrayed Canada.

Finally, Lascaris and Helmer discussed the faltering campaign of Chrystia Freeland to succeed Justin Trudeau as the next Prime Minister of Canada. Were Freeland to win, what kind of a Prime Minister would she make?
