David and Goliath: The Shepherd and the Giant

In the land of Israel, long ago, there was a great army led by King Saul. They stood in battle against the Philistines, a powerful enemy that had come to conquer their land. The two armies camped on opposite hills, separated by a wide valley.

The Philistines had a champion, a giant named Goliath. He was over nine feet tall, clad in bronze armor, and carried a massive spear that gleamed in the sunlight. Every morning and evening, he marched into the valley and shouted,

"Is there no one among you brave enough to fight me? Choose a man to face me! If he wins, we will be your servants. But if I win, you will serve us!"
