The 1st Semi-Final Match of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was played between India and Australia at Dubai International Cricket Stadium Dubai on 4th March, 2025.In this match India defeated Australia by 4 wickets.In this match Australian Captain Steven Smith won the toss and opted to bat first.
Australia while batting first batted cautiously and scored 264 runs all out 49.3 overs and gave target of 265 runs to India to win.In reply India played superbly and scored 267 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 48.1 overs and won the match by 4 wickets.
Australia while batting first started poorly and lost the wicket of Cooper Connolly cheaply at the score of just 4 runs in 2.6 overs. Then Travis Head started to hammer the Indian bowlers but the big fish was removed by mystery man Varun Chakravarty in his very first over caught by Shubman Gill after scoring quickfire 39 runs from 33 balls hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes.
Marnus Labuschagne was LBW to Ravindra Jadeja after scoring 29 runs.Then Ravindra Jadeja removed Josh Inglis caught by Virat Kohli and scored only 11 runs.Then Alex Carey and Steven Smith added 54 runs for the fifth wicket and consolidated the innings.
Mohammed Shami then bold Steven Smith after scoring 73 runs from 96 balls hitting 4 fours and one six. Glenn Maxwell scored only 7 runs and was bowled by Axar Patel. Ben Dwarshuis made 19 runs caught by Shreyas Aiyer of the bowling of Varun Chakravarty.
Alex Carey scored valuable 61 runs from 57 balls hitting 8 fours and 1 six and was run out by Shreyas Aiyer. Nathan Ellis made 10 runs and Tanveer Sangha ramined not out on one run.
Mohammed Shami bowled superbly and took 3 wickets. Two wickets each were taken by Varun Chakravarty and Ravindra Jadeja.One wicket each went to Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel. Australia made only 264 runs all out in 49.3 overs.
India while Chasing target of 264 runs to win lost early wicket of Shubman Gill bowled by Ben Dwarshuis after making 8 runs only.Rohit Sharma was LBW out to Cooper Connolly and contributed 28 runs from 29 balls hitting 3 fours and one six.
Then Virat Kohli with Shreyas Iyer added 91 runs for the third wicket and brought India closer to victory. Shreyas Iyer was bold by Adam Zampa after contributing 45 runs from 62 balls hitting 3 fours. Axar Patel also added crucial 27 runs from 30 balls hitting 1 four and 1 six. Then Virat Kohli played crucial innings of 84 runs from 98 balls hitting 5 fours.
Hardik Pandya was out after playing quickfire innings of 28 runs from 24 balls hitting 1 four and 3 sixes and was out caught by Glenn Maxwell of the bowling of Nathan Ellis.
KL Rahul remained not out on well complied 42 runs from 34 balls hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes and remained not out. Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 2 runs.K L Rahul hit winning runs by a huge six and finished the match in 48.1 overs by scoring 267 for the loss of 6 wickets.Virat Kohli was given the Player of the match award.
India won by 4 wickets and qualified for the Final of Champions Trophy-2025 and will play the Final with the winner of Second Semifinal being played between South Africa and New Zealand tomorrow on 5th March 2025 in Lahore.
