The Pentagon is deploying 3,000 more active-duty troops to the U.S.-Mexico border as part of President Trump’s efforts to curb illegal immigration.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered elements of a Stryker brigade and an aviation battalion for the mission, adding to the 9,200 troops already stationed there.

The new forces aim to reinforce border security and territorial integrity.

Military presence at the border has been ongoing since the 1990s to combat migration, drug trafficking, and crime, the Associated Press has reported.

The Washington Post first reported the deployment.
