Amid the current events, unexpected twists are fast unfolding. I can confidently tell you that Zelenskyy was sent to confront President Trump at the Oval Office, by the EU and the UK only for him to face a hostile and humiliating reception from President Trump and his team. Surprisingly, the European Union and the United Kingdom are now sending him back to appease Trump, realizing their dependence on US support.

Putting myself in Zelenskyy’s shoes, I would have set aside my pride and reached out to my senior counterpart, Putin. A direct dialogue with Putin could potentially lead to a resolution, akin to the prodigal son's return to the Bible without the involvement of the West. President Putin would likely find common ground with him. And this will be the best bet.

I am sure that as time passes, the Western support he thinks he has will wane, leaving him to face increasing challenges alone. He needs to act promptly and make amends before the situation deteriorates further. As the saying goes, "A stitch in time saves nine." The key to resolving this predicament lies in diplomatic outreach and swift action.
