You can talk to him before defeating the Silver Knights and he will tell you he's stuck again.

After defeating them, when you talk with him, he will award you with Tiny Being's Ring. The ring awards a small boost to the player's HP (just 5%). It is an optional starting gift as well and since it can be acquired from Siegmeyer, it's a waste to choose it when creating a new character.
