ChatGPT-4.5 Release. A New DLLM AI Model. Amazon Gets Quantum. Video Treats With Krea and Pika!
The AI News for February 27.
Everyone is getting ready for the release of ChatGPT-4.5 Inception Labs creates an entirely new kind of AI model Amazon unveils its own quantum computing chip and there are some video treats from Pika Labs and Krea. Here's today's AI news.

OpenAI have announced that they will be doing a livestream in a few hours time, so it looks like the Thursday prediction for a ChatGPT-4.5 release was correct. OpenAI have come in for some heat recently, but mostly because it seems increasingly difficult to justify the $200 price tag attached to their Pro subscription.

If ChatGPT-4.5 is similar to Grok 3 or only a small improvement, then this criticism will be hard to dismiss. But do OpenAI really have the capacity to release something that will blow Grok out of the water? Right now, it doesn't seem so.
[00:48.3]
It's crunch time for OpenAI. The little known AI company Inception Labs has unveiled a whole new kind of AI model. Their Mercury model is being called a DLLM or Diffusion Large Language model. This means that the output is created and then incrementally refined from low to high fidelity.
[01:07.7]
The result is that Mercury can generate over 1,000 tokens per second, far higher than any current model. This feels like a major breakthrough in model architecture and it will be very interesting to see if other companies adopt this approach. A week after Microsoft announced their Majorana one quantum computing chip, Amazon have announced their own quantum chip called Ocelot.
[01:26.7]
They claim that the chip is capable of lowering the error correction by up to 90%. Now that Amazon and Microsoft have competing prototype chips, we should really see quantum computing progress accelerate. Generative video progress continues to be off the charts. Today Krea announced that the much anticipated Wan 2.1 model would be available in their service.

The Chinese generative video model has been amazing everyone since it was announced and now you can try it on Krea for free. Also, Pika has released version 2.2 of their video model. It can generate 10 second clips with a 1080p resolution and it now includes Pikaframes where the user can select the start and end frames of a video for far greater control.
