His-narrative doesn't roll off the togue as smoothly as his story. We suspect that the two words were combined to save money on printing. Back in the early days of commercial publishing, charges were issued per letter. The typesetter must be paid. In order to save that charge, simply remove that extra "s" and we have this word that has come down through history as "history." (Ha ha.) Possibly this is one of the reasons that there are so many compounded words in German and the areas where the Gutenberg press was invented.

But who is the "his" (or "he") in his story? We'll tell you in this episode. (But really, you already know.)
