Rejoicing in the Kingdom of God

Sermon on Luke 10:1-20 - Lords Day March 2nd, 2025 - Trinity Reformed Church - Jesus sends out the 70. He is heading to Jerusalem. He will face rejection, suffering and death. That brings the kingdom of God. That brings salvation to men. The 70 will go ahead and prepare His way. The first thing they were to say "peace to this house."
Verses 12-16 Jesus goes into the woes. Woe is a lamentation.

The message is the Kingdom of God. This appears to be the only time Jesus instructs them to heal and say the kingdom of God has come near you. To the Jews it would bring to mine the Davidic kingdom.

The Gospel of the Kingdom: the good news that Jesus came to die for sinners. This was not the kind of kingdom they were thinking of. We are able to enter the kingdom through repentance and faith.

He is not preaching some far away kingdom. He has the power to bring us into the kingdom of God. God is ruler of heaven and earth. God has always been in charge. Man rebelled from God. Gods kingdom is the true freedom. Mat. 24:14

They came back with joy saying even the demons are subject to us in your name.. It is an amazing display of power. They still don't understand.

Rejoicing in the powers of the kingdom.
Rejoicing - V18 Jesus says I saw satan fall like lightening.... Satans kingdom was being defeated. Every time the Gospel is proclaimed and someone believes satan falls. Satan is bound Rev 20.
Rejoice in your salvation. V20 - even though you have power over demons, to heal what you should rejoice in is that your names are written in heaven. Also a message to not rejoice in your works..

Luke 10:17-20 (NKJV) 17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name." 18 And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 "Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven."
