The Possession of Friedrich Nietzsche

Friedrich Nietzsche was a complicated man whose work has greatly influenced many prominent thinkers of the 20th and 21st century, including famous Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung. On January 3rd of 1889, Nietzsche had a complete mental breakdown which would leave him a mere shell of himself until his passing in 1900.
What caused this once great mind to shatter? There are many theories. But for my money, Carl Jung’s theory on Nietzsche’s mental breakdown is the best, if not, the most interesting and thought provoking of them all.
