2 Corinthians 13:1-14

In this last chapter of our study, the apostle Paul informs the Corinthians that he plans on a "third visit" that he hopes will not need to be one of severity. If the Corinthian believers fail to repent of their sin, Paul will administer Church discipline, something he hopes to avoid. He would much rather enjoy the fellowship of unity in Christ. Though the tone of this closing to his letter is sobering, Paul ends with encouragement in the Lord towards the Corinthian believers. His hope is that they will live out the unity of spirit which should be the mark of every local church. He ends with this blessing: "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all." In doing so he reminds them that they are the Body of Christ, children of the triune God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. There was hope for the Corinthians and there is hope for us as well!
