Next to learning how to count, place value is probably the single most important skill your kiddo can learn before picking up adding/subtracting/multiplication/division. Why? Because 84 is really 8 tens and 4 ones. So, 134 + 124 + 321 is 5 hundreds + 7 tens + 9 ones or 579. Quick. Easy. More powerful than a locomotive. Place value.
