UVA SPOKESPERSON: At 4:38 p.m. today, University Police received reports of a stabbing near 100 Emmet St. in the City of Charlottesville. A single victim was transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center for treatment and is in critical condition.

The suspect, a middle-aged white male, was subsequently apprehended by University Police in the vicinity of Stribling Ave. without further incident and is currently in police custody.

Neither the suspect, nor the victim, has any known affiliation with the University of Virginia.

Charlottesville Police will be conducting the investigation as the attack occurred within the City’s jurisdiction.
