25-Acre Fishing Pond Yearly Drawdown

Per the OK Dept. of Wildlife Conservation, for a healthy and balanced fishing pond, it is recommended to drawdown the pond every year just before winter to keep the aquatic vegetation in check. It also benefits by putting smaller, stunted forage fish into predatory waters and reducing the amount of cover they have, which makes it harder for bass to feed, and may be a reason for unhealthy bass. And obviously, it makes for a better fishing and swimming experience not having too much vegetation along the banks and in the shallow areas.

Join me as I perform a typical drawdown of my family’s 25 acre pond. I was a little late this year, but was able to make it before some hard freezes.

In this video are also some sightings of deer, beaver, and more wildlife.

Looking forward to sharing the results with you in the spring time.
