Hero Cop Takes Down Active Shooter at Texas Mall – Raw Footage

Allen, Texas — On May 6, 2023, an officer with the Allen Police Department was speaking with a mother and her two children when a sudden series of gunshots rang out in the distance at the Allen Premium Outlets mall. The officer immediately reported the gunfire over the radio, and more shots were heard. Reacting swiftly, he drew his weapon and directed nearby shoppers to take cover.

The officer then sprinted across the mall area for approximately two to three minutes, during which multiple rounds of gunfire continued. Due to privacy considerations, the footage has been edited to obscure civilian faces, and certain language has been removed. Throughout the video, chaotic scenes unfold as the officer moves toward the source of the gunfire, urging people to evacuate. "Shots fired. Shots fired. We have people running," he reports over the radio while advancing toward the danger.

At about the four-minute mark in the video, the officer locates and engages the armed suspect, later identified as a 33-year-old male. He fires several shots, and for the first time since the incident began, there is a sudden silence. "Shots fired by police. Suspect is down!" he announces. After issuing commands for the suspect to disarm, the officer fires two additional shots before confirming the situation. Another responding officer approaches, and the first officer states, "We got him."

The suspect was responsible for the tragic loss of eight lives and injuries to seven others before being stopped. Following an investigation by The Texas Rangers and the Collin County District Attorney’s Office, the case was presented to a grand jury on June 26. After a thorough review, they determined that the officer’s use of force was legally justified under Texas law.
