70 Christians in Congo Killed Beheaded by ISIS Aligned Militants

70 Christians in Congo Killed and BEHEADED in by ISIS-aligned militants. This happened inside a Protestant church in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s North Kivu Province. The Christians, reportedly all from the Lubero district, were forced out of their homes allegedly early in the morning of Feb. 13, with the rebels shouting, "Get out, get out." They were taken hostage, and moved to a small Christian church in the village of Kasanga. The Militants captured and tied up some 20 Christians in the community of Mayba. The militants are suspected to be members of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a rebel group with ties to the Islamic State group. After the 20 were taken, the rest of the village was agitated and began to try to figure out how to free the people who had been abducted. They gathered together to develop a plan, but by the time they met, militants had surrounded their village. Open Doors sources report that the extremists captured about 50 other Christians and tied them up. All 70 captives were taken hostage and moved to a Protestant church in Kasanga. There, inside the building that had until then been considered a sanctuary, they were first tied up, and then all 70 were b3head*d. 95% of people living in the DRC are Christian. Yet the Islamist ADF, analysts say, are bent on turning this community in the troubled North East of the country into an Islamic Caliphate, forcing this majority-Christian community to follow extreme Muslim practices. Worldwide, and particularly in Africa, Christians face increasing persecution. In a January 2025 report, Open Doors US stated that "over 380 million Christians worldwide experienced at least a "high level" of persecution and discrimination because of their faith." We must always remember to keep the persecuted church in our prayers. And we should reject the prosperity Gospel because we all can be called to suffer or lay our lives down for Jesus Christ.
