My experience on 9/11 - 2/25/25

On 9/11, on the 6th or 7th floor, I had my back to the window facing south in my office. My ASL interpreter who was sitting in front of me saw a plane flying very low, just above the trees in the background. Very puzzled. The interpreter had never seen a plane flying that low before, from the office. About 10 minutes minutes later, a lot of chatter in the hallway. Someone told us to tune into CNN. We and many others hurriedly walked down the hall and saw a black billowing, about 4 miles southeast. That was Pentagon.

Interestingly enough, I had lunch with my wife in the cafeteria. We sat down with an interpreter who used to work at FDIC before leaving for DoD. The interpreter went to USAID a few years ago. She got RIF'ed from USAID. My wife told me this morning the interpreter would be in her training. That's why I came to DC and VA today. I asked the interpreter if I could interview the interpreter. Was told not to speak to anyone in media.

The tall condos and apartments were built up after 9/11.

I incorrectly said 1985 when I first came to FDIC on the 17th St and New York Ave corner downtown. It was 1988.
