Oak Hill Church of Christ preaching minister, Randy Sterling, delivers a message on the importance of remembering that a relationship with God means real transformation.

You might have heard stories about a lost famous painting by one of the masters being purchased at a garage sale for $5 under the belief that it was a random amateur's work. Maybe you've heard about a coin whose defect made it worth thousands of times its face value. Perhaps it was the "Sinner's Bible" a famous misprint of the 1631 Authorized Version which declared 'Thou shalt commit adultery.' Only fifteen copies are still confirmed to exist.

A proper understanding of the value of a mistake can yield tremendous value to those who know where to look and never pass up a good opportunity. God thinks so, too.

God is not confused about mankind's propensity for sin. On the contrary, He is well aware that without Him, all will sin and be destined for judgment and condemnation. That's why He's always out hunting for us.

Don't think your soul is valuable because of your past? Both God and the devil would have a laugh at that. Your soul is priceless beyond measure, and God withheld not even His Only Son as the price to bring you to Him.

For many people, their soul is valuable not in spite of, but because of, their past. The writer of Amazing Grace was a horrible person before God bought Him. The relief of having his true worth discovered by a graceful Savior, and knowing that the Grace of God is truly sufficient turned him into a prolific preacher of the word.

It did so for Paul, formerly Saul, an ardent persecutor of Christians and self-professed enemy of Christ. God found him, bought him, and he became one of the most prolific writers of the New Testament. Not in spite of his past, but, because of it.

Don't be worried that God isn't looking for you because of your blemishes and mistakes. Be glad in the knowledge that it's because of your mistakes that God is looking for you. Be blessed by His Grace and Salvation through Christ, and turn those mistakes into testimony that might well save other souls, too.
