Dark Souls Remastered | Sin doesn't pay (indictments and the cost of absolution)

It is never necessary to request absolution from sin in this game, but if an NPC has become hostile for any reason (such as you attacking them), you have to request absolution to make them friendly again. If you need to purchase other items, upgrades, etc., or want to continue a questline from an NPC that has become hostile, it could be worthwhile to do this.

Another way to be indicted by a player is if you invade and kill them, but they have to have an Indictment in their inventory, which can be purchased from this vendor (Oswald of Carim) for 200 souls each. You can also buy Indictments from this NPC and use them to indicte players who invade and kill you.

The cost for absolution is always your level x 500 souls. Since I'm level 91, it costed me 45500 souls.
