How To Read A Permit For An Oversized or Overweight Load

Welcome to Episode 28 to Tuesdays With T-U!

Permits are required for any tractor and trailer loaded at over 80,000lbs gross weight and/or over 8'6" wide or 13'6" tall. Once a permit to travel is issued a specific route comes with it is a state, city, or county-approved route deemed safe for travel with that particular load.

Those experienced in the specialized side of the industry understand permits are life savers when it comes to avoiding issues such as low bridges, narrow construction zones ect. The extra miles added in order to follow the permitted route can also add hundreds of miles and sometimes days of travel to get to the destination!
