Lone Star - a History of Texas (Myth20c - Ep288)

As the largest state in the lower 48 of the United States, and the second largest by population, Texas ranks prominently in the economic and political dynamics of the country, with a world leading energy sector and growing cities. Attracting people from all over the world looking for a place that balances independence with opportunity, Texas has developed a unique blend of people that combine the cultures of the Spanish, the Anglo-German, and the ever present Mexican population, forged in a series of full scale wars in the 1800s. Tonight we are joined by Jose Niño, long-time resident of Texas, to share his lived experience in the Lone Star State, as well as his perspective on its centrality in the growing importance of Latin America and places like Venezuela in the coming geopolitical realignment of the great powers of the 21st century.
