MADDIE has two babies… And only one is real. Maddie was 18 when she had her daughter, Ophelia, now 18 months old. The 19-year-old mom described her daughter: “She’s like a bag full of energy, she’s crazy, she’s really strong willed.” Maddie also has a reborn baby named Forrest. She developed an interest in reborn babies from a young age. She said: “I first learned about reborns when I saw them on a documentary on the telly and I just have been obsessed since then. You just cuddle them and it's like you're cuddling a real baby. They're so lifelike.” Maddie has been subjected to a lot of judgement for having a reborn - she has been called ‘crazy’ or that she’s using ‘resources meant for real babies’. Maddie added: “People do judge me for having the reborn and the real baby. They think that I'm not giving my daughter enough attention or that I favour him over her, which I definitely do not do.” Maddie has taught Ophelia to be gentle with the reborn and refers to him as 'mummy’s baby’. Maddie loves and cares for her daughter first and foremost and asserts there is no jealousy from Ophelia about Forrest. She said: “I don't really choose to spend time with him over her because she is my main priority.”
