A man is dead after being shot by Indianapolis police Wednesday afternoon on the city's southeast side. The Marion County Coroners Office identified the him as Christopher L. Worrell, 37. He was shot by 4-year officer Daniel Beasley.

Beasley was involved in another officer-involved shooting back in 2021 when he was a first year officer.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Chief Chris Bailey said the man anticipated a confrontation with officers, leading to the shooting.

"From the body worn camera video that I have watched, he did a superb job," Bailey said about Beasley. "In trying to give himself some distance, but at the end of the day, he had to protect himself and the community and that's exactly what he did."
