Fluoride treats the water.

On 10 Feb 2025, Rotorua Lakes Council held a public session with officials from the Ministry of Health (Dentist Dr Riana Clarke and Medical Officer of Health Dr Phil Shoemack) presenting on the topic of fluoridation.  Councillors were able to ask questions. The Director General of Health at the time, Dr Diana Sarfati, did not attend herself, and there was no opportunity for the public to ask questions.

Cr Patterson asked about informed consent as described in the HDC Code of Rights and suggested there was no consent being given by those forced to consume water with fluoridation chemicals added.

Astonishingly, in response Dr Shoemack said water fluoridation was not treating individuals but rather treating the water!!
