There is no doubt that Robert E. Howard was a man of his time. His works, featuring characters from Conan to Solomon Kane, were written during a time where people's attitudes toward others do not comport with those of today.
While the Conan stories are tinged with the notions of Howard's day, they are valuable to read as foundational for more contemporary works of fantasy. Despite what some may find offensive--and not without cause--these stories may yet hold entertainment value beyond that.
