Parasha Mishpatiym: Exodus 21:1-24:18

After giving Moses the Ten Commandments in the previous parasha, God now gives him the laws. Included are laws for man-servants and maid-servants, for striking another person and injuring or killing them, 'eye-for-an-eye' which is better translated as 'eye-below-an-eye,' the laws for badly behaved animals and their badly behaved owners, thieves, sorceresses, money lending and many other laws.
