MAHA Commission Executive Order

On February 13, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to establish the President's Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission, chaired by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The executive order aims to address the growing health crisis in America, particularly focusing on childhood chronic diseases. The commission is tasked with advising the President on how to best exercise his authority to address the childhood chronic disease crisis.

Within 100 days of the executive order, the commission must submit a Make Our Children Healthy Again Assessment to the President. This assessment will identify and describe childhood chronic diseases in America compared to other countries, assess the potential over-utilization of medication and certain food ingredients, and evaluate the effectiveness of existing educational programs and Federal programs intended to prevent and treat childhood health issues.

Additionally, within 180 days, the commission is required to submit a Make Our Children Healthy Again Strategy to the President. This strategy will address how to appropriately restructure the Federal Government's response to the childhood chronic disease crisis and add new solutions to end childhood chronic disease.

The commission includes the secretaries of multiple federal agencies, such as Agriculture, Housing and Urban Development, Education, and Veterans Affairs, as well as the Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Management and Budget, the National Economic Council, the Centers for Disease Control, and the Food and Drug Administration.
