Many rulers and institutions have used religious authority to influence, manipulate, and control populations, often using fear, guilt, or dogma to maintain power. This presentation will reflect on how religion can both appear to nurture spiritual connections but in actuality, create barriers, suppress free thought, and limit personal spiritual exploration.
