Well, actually, there is a tiny bit of paint on the valve handle just to impersonate the natural patinas surrounding it. There is a heavy coat of polyurethane clearcoat to protect the patina and seal it as well as it can be. This is the only purple patina I've seen before. I found that the same mix creates a vivid green if exposed to ammonia overnight. Great fun! Anyway, this tank has a custommade solid brass sight glass for fuel. The glass isn't correct though as I've soldered a barb into the bottom 90 and used clear vinyl fuel line to mimic glass. Hence the ability to bend to fit the tank. I love it!
