Had my braking skills tested this morning by a womble driver, Now I'm not perfect , but this is just plain stupid , no way did she see anything prior to completely cutting the junction, if I hadn't reacted as quick as I did, this would have been a smash, as typical, no apology or acknowledgement. How these people stay alive is beyond me. This was shot this morning on the beautiful isle of Arran Scotland, in a place called Lamlash. this is typically a busy junction and it goes up park terrace to a large housing estate. With the sun in my eyes and the speed she was going, she is very lucky indeed. These people need to be reminded this is not the fast and the furious this is real life van diesel, paul walker, dwayne johnson, tyrese gibson, michelle rodriguez, jason statham, sung chang are all actors on a movie set their driving is carefully choreographed and staged. They are not driving like that in real life, This driver has just done something more dangerous than they ever do she put herself, kids if she had any and me in danger all to save 1/2 a second. Stunt driving is not for the public highway.
Isle of Arran is also Known as Scotland in miniature and is off the west coast of Scotland along the same east / west line as Glasgow. It is accessed, by the Calmac ferry service, which goes from Ardrossan to Brodick . The ferry comes in to the new ferry terminal at Brodick and this is the gateway to exploring Arran
This is a great place to visit and explore and the options for this are massive, so many hotels and B&B's not to mention guest houses and self catering accommodation, There are lots of pubs and eatery's as well as 3 co-op supermarkets. You could go walking for months and not do all the walks that you want to. Loch's that you can swim in, as well as beaches. ( including the only scottish approved nudist beach :0 ) The Calmac ferry brings you across the clyde from ardrossan to Brodick, which is the main port on Arran, we also have one at Lochranza where the whisky distillery is. On arrival at Brodick you will see John Thomson constructions yard where you will turn right to take you into the small town / large village. The first hotel you will see is the Douglas which has recently been renovated. As you drive into Brodick you will see our main coop supermarket (one of 3 on Arran) with a fantastic view over goatfell and Brodick Bay. A little way on from here is Brodick Golf course an exceptional course overlooking the bay and the mountains. Carry on in this direction and you will come to Brodick castle, which also appears on the Scottish £20 notes. this is well worth a visit, on from here you have smugglers bay and then Corrie. Corrie has an abundance of seals which can be seen at low tides sun bathing on the rocks, from here you come to sannox, where corrie golf course is a great 9 hole course, and the world famous sannox stepping stones. from here you travel up through some epic scenery to Lochranza, where there is also a castle, this castle was used in the tin tin comics.
From here you can continue travelling round the island to Blackwaterfoot where there is another golf course and a great lawn bowls course using an honesty box, so you can go and play anytime of the day. there is also our second public swimming pool in the kinloch hotel. from here you can go past kilpatrick where dave henderson has his farm and through to lagg and kilmory. The Lagg hotel has regular Yoga sessions as well as a famous velo cafe. Past here is kildonan again a great place to see seals and the kildonan hotel and seal shore camp site. forever onwards brings you to whiting bay and you've guessed it yet another world class golf course as well as a great beach overlooking the holy isle. up the hill passed kings cross and down into Lamlash the "capital" of the island. and another great golf course and the ferry over to the monks on holy isle where you can do a great walk or just laze in the tranquility of the place . Once past here you come back to Brodick as well as this there is the ross road, in my opinion one of the most scenic roads in scotland, raptors are often seen along here. There is also the main string road across the island going past dereneneach and if you turn off here you can go to machrie where you can also play golf. At Lochranza and Lamlash there are outdoor centres where you can abseil, canoe, gorge walk, sailing, kayaking , mountain biking , archery the list just goes on and on. The walking on Arran is fantastic with some great views. Every August we hold our worldwide highland games where we do get competitors from all over the world. Saving the best till last you can also feed the ducks at Rosaburn.co.uk , now also on Google maps next to the heritage museum, you should also take this path if you are going to duchess court as the pavement finishes if you go around the road. I am very sorry to everyone I missed as there is just so much to see and do on the Isle of Arran. Mogabout, brodick cycle hire, ormidale hotel, arran elite Tae Kwon Do, auchrannie, (this is the other swimming pools, brodick bay, corrie hotel, north sannox riding centre, cairnhouse stables, discus golf, tennis, MINI GOLF (just been redone) arran active, glen cloy, yha, catacol, viking society, heritage museum, and loads more.
