Elon Musk Talks War: A Lot Of Sons Aren’t Coming Back to Their Parents

Conflict between Ukraine and Russia exemplifies a tragic dynamic: young men, unfamiliar with one another, are compelled to fight and die at the behest of older leaders who are personally acquainted.

Approximately one year ago, I advocated for a truce or peace agreement, driven by a foresight that has largely proven accurate—a devastating loss of life with minimal territorial shifts as a result.

This war has claimed the brightest and most promising youth of both Ukraine and Russia, a loss I refer to as the 'flower' of their generation.

We ought to extend compassion not only to the Ukrainian soldiers but also to their Russian counterparts, many of whom are conscripted into frontline service involuntarily.

Consequently, countless families on both sides are left without their sons, a profound tragedy compounded by the likelihood that these young men harbor no personal animosity toward one another.

This situation recalls a sobering observation from World War I: young soldiers, strangers to each other, sacrifice their lives under the direction of elder statesmen who share a mutual familiarity."
