Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser News Conference

"Congress has threatened home rule in many ways and continues to do so … some people in the Congress continue to use that as a threat," said Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) when asked during a news conference at the National Press Club if the District's home rule charter was "under threat" following remarks from President Trump that the federal government should "take over" the capital city. The mayor also confirmed there is a police investigation into Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) for domestic abuse, but said she was not aware of any police reports on the investigation being changed. Mayor Bowser also addressed questions regarding public safety, unemployment and the federal workforce, and whether Washington, DC is a sanctuary city
