This is a map of the more likely place of the crossing of the red sea. Actually, at the Gulf of Aqaba. Although there is much debate on the location. Not just the location of the crossing, but of Mt. Sinai.
Moses is angered by the soldiers' decision to spare the Midianite women. He commands them to kill every male child and non-virgin woman but allows the virgin women to live.
One thing we notice is that there are 42 locations or places in the wilderness represent the path the road the journey that the Israelites took to get to their Promised land. To be released from their slavery. 40 places or stages if you will not counting the beginning place (Ramses) and the ending place (the plains of Moab, across from Jericho).
Recorded for us here in this text are the stages in the journey of the Israelites when they came out of Egypt.I think there is a lesson there or an example there for us. We too may well benefit by remembering the path by which we came to Christ. Or more accurately we responded to HIS presence, HIS calling.
Imagine this scene, the Egyptians were busy burying their dead because the LORD had struck down their firstborn and embarrassed their deities and revealed that their deities were NOT deity at all. But what a scene, a million, maybe more much more, marched past all the Egyptians who were in a state of shock, busy burying their dead. They probably just wanted the Israelites, these Hebrews out of their lives.
The Israelites did not need to look back with shame at anything they had done while in captivity. Why they were in that slavery all those years is another story (that we have seen). But in the same way, we as followers of Yeshua, we don’t need to carry guilt regarding our old sins: Yes, we are to learn from them and repent and move on to what’s next. We are not to live in those whys of life, why this, why that, why them, why him, why her, But instead we are to learn from, repent from those sins or mistakes and then MOVE ON!
HEB 4:16, Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
2 TIM 1:7, For the Spirit GOD gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. When you walk with HIM, when we truly believe that HE walks with us, we do not fear men or the KOD.
