"Scrap-Happy Daffy" is a 1943 Looney Tunes short directed by Frank Tashlin, featuring Daffy Duck in a World War II-themed adventure. In this black-and-white cartoon, Daffy serves as the enthusiastic guard of a wartime salvage yard, collecting scrap metal to aid the Allied effort against the Axis powers. When Adolf Hitler, incensed by a newspaper headline about Daffy’s scrap pile contributing to the war effort, orders its destruction, a Nazi submarine deploys a billy goat to devour the metal. Daffy initially struggles against the relentless goat, but, inspired by ghostly visions of his patriotic duck ancestors—including figures reminiscent of Plymouth Rock settlers and Abraham Lincoln—he transforms into a "Super American" to triumphantly defeat the enemy. The film ends with a humorous twist as Daffy awakens from what he thinks is a dream, only to find the Nazi sub atop his scrap pile. With Mel Blanc’s vibrant voice acting, this short blends wartime propaganda with slapstick comedy, marking Daffy’s final black-and-white theatrical appearance.
