Easy Homemade recipe for
French Toast
From the American Home all-purpose cookbook 1966
2 Eggs, beaten
¼ tsp salt
2/3 Cup milk
8 Slices of stale bread
2 TBSP butter
Combine eggs, salt, and milk in a flat dish. Soak bread slices in mixture, turning if necessary to moisten both sides. Heat butter on griddle or in skillet; remove bread, draining slightly. Brown both sides. Sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar (powdered sugar) and serve with jam, jelly, or maple syrup. Makes 4 servings.
*** side notes many people add dashes of cinnamon, a tsp of vanilla, dash of nutmeg etc. to their egg batter. You can add what you like or add none.
