D.C. (Dist. of Criminals), February 19, 2025 — British journalist and Spiked editor Tom Slater delivered a scathing takedown of leftist attempts to brand President Donald Trump a “21st Century Fascist” during a debate at the historic Cambridge Union Society.

Slater Exposes the Absurdity of the ‘Trump is Hitler’ Narrative

During the heated discussion, Slater dismantled the motion comparing Trump to infamous totalitarian leaders, exposing the left’s reckless dilution of history.

“Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler, Donald Trump. Il Duce, Der Führer, The Donald. The Roman Salute, The Zekeile, The YMCA Dance,” Slater said mockingly. “The comparison is so absurd, it practically debunks itself.”

He shredded the claim that Trump represents a fascist regime, pointing out the glaring contrast between real historical fascism and the manufactured hysteria of the modern left.

“If that sounds like America in 2025 to you, then I suggest you leave here and have a nice long lie down,” Slater quipped, drawing laughter from the audience.

Calling Out the Elite Left’s Hypocrisy

Slater didn’t stop at defending Trump—he turned the tables on the leftist establishment, calling them out for their elitist contempt for working-class voters.

“The increasingly out-of-touch bourgeois left has become so detached, so disdainful even, of working-class people, that whenever they get together and rebel against the establishment, it instantly assumes they have been whipped up into this by some racist, fascistic demagogue,” Slater argued.

He reminded the audience that Trump earned record-breaking support among black, Latino, and Muslim voters in the last election—an inconvenient fact for those pushing the “white supremacy” narrative.

“That’s a strange white supremacy as far as I’m concerned,” he noted.

‘Weaponizing Fascism’ for Political Gain

Slater warned that the left’s constant misuse of “fascism” as a partisan attack trivializes history’s greatest atrocities.

“If we accept this motion, we accept the dilution of fascism and its horrors,” he said. “We turn the graveyards of the 20th century into a playground in which to have our own political spats.”

His final takedown was a powerful call to reject the weaponization of history:

“That is an insult to the millions who lost their lives to fascism, particularly European Jewry, and I hope you will reject this motion as a consequence.”

Slater’s fiery defense of Trump and rebuke of the left’s historical revisionism is already making waves, with clips of his speech going viral online.
