Being Rich Pre-1920 seemed... Pointless. It Only Gets Worse the Further Back You Go Too.

I've always thought that being rich back in the day was kind of pointless. Cars weren't a thing, intercontinental travel was practically non-existent, medicine was horrible -- being rich just seemed pointless! Other than being able to say you're rich and having servants, what was the point? At least in todays world, you can buy islands, super cars, planes, helicopters, have multiple homes around the world, travel the world, possibly even pay to charter a trip to space, but pre-1920, what did you do with your money??

Then, as the title suggests, the further back you go, the more pointless being rich becomes. Imagine being rich in 1560... exactly, nothing comes to mind. You're just some douche at that point with full pockets but really nothing else to show for/the money to matter for.

I don't know, I could also just be an idiot who doesn't understand old wealth. I don't think that's the case though.
