CNN New York Evacuates Building As Hosts Were Interviewing Guest
The Time Warner building in New York City has been evacuated due to the discovery of a suspicious package. CNN was live on the air this morning from their studio in that building, and was forced to abruptly cut to commercial.
As they were discussing the explosive devices sent to George Soros, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and the office of Barack Obama, as well as to the White House (a report that was later changed), an alarm began loudly going off in the background.
The hosts, Jim Sciutto and Poppy Harlow, were interviewing CNN law enforcement analyst Tom Fuentes as the sirens and announcements could be heard in the background. The anchors then had to cut the interview short.
As the two journalists quickly wrapped up to send the broadcast to commercial, staff in the background of the shot are being rushed from the newsroom to evacuate the building. After the cameras were cut, the anchors and remainder of staff evacuated and were later seen on the street outside the building as they called in to CNN’s Washington D.C. bureau to describe the scene.
