Chef R.J. Marvin's fermentation business is doing so well, he's getting ready to move to a larger facility. The owner of Barrel & Brine is also getting ready this week for the eight annual Iron Event. This year's cooking completion will feature twenty-two of the area's best chef's battling it out to raise money and awareness for their friend and one-time chef Daniel Tracy who was diagnosed with ALS in 2010. R.J. says "it's a huge event, in my opinion the best food event in the city." The competition is Sunday evening October 28th and will again take place at Buffalo Riverworks with the guests tasting the food and picking the winners. While thee local chefs take the competition seriously, R.J. says the local food industry is a tight knit community and helping their friend Dan is what it's really all about, adding "it's inspiring to us to not take what we have for granted, to push a little harder to do a little bit more, to support where and when we can. Tickets for Sunday's even are available at TheIronEvent.org
