HELP ME TO THINK BEFORE I SPEAK, LORD!
James 1:19 New King James Version
19 [a]So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
GOOD EVENING IN YESHUA MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS!!!
You know guys, admit it to you right now and let you know that I have a temper. I have a very hard time controlling it, and I continually have to ask the Lord to please help me to not only control it, but to keep me from saying or doing anything that I will deeply regret. I keep having to remember the verses of scripture like this one above, as well as Proverbs 15:1, to not only think before I speak, but to give my emotions to God, lay them at His feet, and ask Him to help me vent them in a proper way, so that I don't say or do anything that would dishonor Him.
I think that's why I so truly appreciate these questions from this morning's devotional, and I really felt led of the Lord to share them with you tonight. Please read these questions very carefully, and I pray that God will challenge your heart through them.
Why is it important to cautiously give vent to your emotions?
How will you do this the next time you’re angry?
Tonight, my friends, I'd like to share some things that I learned out of God's word on this very issue, and I'm still learning, through this vlog I'd like to share with all of you tonight, and I pray that what I share with you will encourage and motivate you to see the importance of using wise restraint with our emotions, so that we avoid speaking or doing anything in haste. Come join me in this vlog tonight my friends and see just what I mean! 😊
So, my friends, as I close this post with all of you tonight, I want to leave you with something that I have said constantly, and I pray that what I say will sink into your hearts and cause you to think. My prayer for all of you tonight is that you first and foremost learn to think before you speak or do anything that will bring dishonor to the Lord. My husband stated something very important this morning, and that we as human beings don't know our limits on how to vent, we have self-control, but I think we don't know how to use it, and the result is often disastrous. I pray that we all learn to think first before we say or do anything that we are going to regret, and that when we are faced with overwhelming emotions, especially anger, hurt, or any other type of negative emotion, that we lay it at the feet of the savior, and ask Him to help us vent and express those emotions properly. I also want to challenge you to think about this when you interact with others. Is what you say going to give glory to God, or will it damage? If it's something that follows Philippians 4:8, then pursue it. If it's not, don't bring it up, but only what will bring glory to God. Bottom line, ask God to help you think before you speak or say something you'll regret.
