Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore recently confirmed that Black Panther 3 is in development, with its release planned after Avengers: Secret Wars (2027). Speaking about the project, Moore revealed that early discussions have taken place with director Ryan Coogler, who is currently finishing Sinners. Once that film is completed, work on Black Panther 3 will begin, though it will follow Avengers as Marvel’s next major release.

In an interview with Variety, Moore, who is set to leave Marvel in mid-March but will still produce the film, hinted that Black Panther 3 could fit into one of the studio’s untitled 2027-2028 release slots. He also highlighted upcoming Marvel projects, saying, “This year, we have Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four, all leading up to Avengers. But we’ll return to Wakanda as soon as we can.”

Coogler, currently focused on Sinners alongside Michael B. Jordan for an April release, will shift his attention to Black Panther 3 afterward. Moore previously mentioned in 2022 that early concepts for the third film had already been explored.

Additionally, Denzel Washington had stated that Coogler was developing Black Panther 3 and even writing a role for him. However, Washington later clarified that he had spoken prematurely, saying, “Ryan’s a genius. I called him to apologize for discussing the film, and sitting right there with him was his beautiful wife” (via Variety). At the time, Coogler had not intended to reveal Washington’s involvement publicly.
