Underground Warfare
Have you heard of technology that causes a person's entire body to vaporize upon contact? It is pitch black, especially if you are in an underground cave system. What could you call that?

A “wall of decay”? Or a “deadly vaporization barrier”? Alternatively, it could also be referred to as a “bio-disintegrator field” or “molecular dissolution barrier”. I'm not sure, but this is something our military has to deal with and many have died this way.
