These people are real.
These people are not perfect.
This calling is independent from our wills.
”To love others best we must love God most.”
Matthew 22:37-40“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your souland with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
Romans 13:8.“Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.”
1 John 4:19.“We love because he [God] first loved us.”
The connection between God’s love for us and our love for others.
God’s love for us gives us the power and the pattern
God’s love for us gives us the power to love others.
Deuteronomy 30:6:“And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring, so that you will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.”
Just doing something right doesn’t mean you’re doing it right.
1 John 3:10 (ESV):“By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.”

John Chapter 7:37-38 “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water’”
2. God’s love gives us the pattern to love others.
1 John 3:16.“By this we know love, that he [Jesus] laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.”
John 14:34:“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another [well how, Jesus?]; just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.”
Loving in the pattern of Jesus means
our love for others will bring resentment.
1 John Chapter 3:13“Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you.”
our love for others actually makes a difference.
1 John 3:18“Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”
1 Corinthians 16:14, “Let all that you do be done in love.”
be difference-makers.
our love for others is sacrificial in nature.
1 John 3:16“By this we know love, that he [Jesus] laid down his life for us.”
John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for those he loves.”
Ephesians 5:25“Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her”
sacrificial love means caring for others when it costs.
Sacrificial Love Is Not Comfortable.
1 John 4:19“We love because God first loved us”
