The Moon Hoax Revisited, Part 5.2. Apollo at the Murmansk pier | R.Golunov

The year 1970 is a particularly intriguing one. It marks a turning point in the Moon race, where the Soviet leadership shifted from implicit consent regarding Moon missions to a somewhat passive yet visibly cooperative stance with their competitor. This was a highly unusual situation. Of course, one should by no means accuse the Soviet leadership of lacking intelligence or foresight; clearly, specific interests were at play. The most striking episode occurred in Murmansk, where, in September 1970, Apollo ended up at the pier, and Soviet officials in trench coats handed over an Apollo capsule to officers of an American icebreaker that had just arrived.
