What makes huckleberries so special?
Huckleberries are a delicious treat. But they are very hard to get because they are only harvested wild and they grow only in very specific conditions and areas. There is no such thing as a cultivated huckleberry or a huckleberry farm.
Huckleberries grow only in northern climates with cold winters, cool summers and with consistent light rain throughout the summer. They grow only in old growth forests, only above 4000 to 5000 feet elevation, and they require a very specific fungus in the soil in order for them to be able to uptake nutrients.
Huckleberries are a special treat - if you can find them.
At Pioneer Valley, we make a variety of jams (including huckleberry jam), pancake syrups, hard candy image lollies, ice cream toppings, caramels, and more.
