Couple told to remove flowerbeds they planted thirty years ago

A green-fingered couple have been left stunned after being ordered to remove a colourful flower-bed they planted 30 years ago - because it is a 'danger' to road-users. Brian and Sally Williams planted the blooms on the narrow lane in the village where they live to encourage wildlife and bring colour to the area. But Sheffield Council sent a letter to the pair on Saturday (13 Oct) saying they had a week to remove the blooms and flowerbed or pay for it to be done by the authority. The letter has prompted a 3,000-strong petition from fellow villagers demanding the flower-bed is allowed to remain on the roadside verge opposite the couple's home.
