By abandoning the Redskins name, which honored Native American heritage, they ironically adopted "Commanders"—a title historically associated with those who led the genocide of Native Americans. To make matters worse, the team’s nickname, "The Commies," unintentionally links them to communist regimes, further deepening the irony. Even their color scheme closely resembles that of major communist nations like the Soviet Union and China. The franchise, once rich in identity, now feels generic and politically compromised, erasing history while embracing unintended symbolism.
