Lumumba's Africa. Industrialisation of Africa. Ep 28 | RT Documentary

937
Freedom fighters in Africa always knew that it was crucial to industrialize their countries if they wanted to unleash the continent’s potential. The first steps towards this were made in the 20th century, with President Nasser nationalizing the Suez Canal. Many African leaders also contributed to industrialization, but the process had a downside. The former colonizers were quick to come back as investors. And just like that, the development process was not in Africans' interest any longer. Today, Western corporations are in control of the most important branches of the continent's largest economies. The question of whether it will ever be able to free itself of the neo-colonizers remains open.
