To understand the roots of the conflict between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, one must look back to the partition of the African continent. This conflict was a result of the division of African countries and their borders left over from colonial rule.
Years and years of battles for independence, transfers of power, fights over resources, people refugeed by war – these countries have seen it all. In 1998, Africa's World War broke out with 20 armed groups from 9 African countries claiming millions of lives.
And to this today, the question of whether the African continent can ever be united remains.
