Wrecking the European Union bureaucracies would provide them massive economic growth and would likely restart European innovation. That's going to be a tough fight. Right now they are also starved for energy because of a decade+ of Green stupidity.

just got finished watching a few WW1 documentaries. Russia and France Alliance against Germany 20yrs prior gave Russians confidence to protect their last stronghold in the Balkans that derived from fear of Germany. From what should have been a small skirmish quickly escalated to WW1 over tiny Serbia based largely on fear. No way we fear Russia, but perhaps we fear Russia having money, which largely was what Germany had feared of Russia in 1914 thus involving themselves. This is a good call to not allow bravado and fear drive decisions when Ukraine put themselves into this position base on their confidence of the US backing.
